Finding your discipline - Part 3

In our final piece of the series, we ask you to ask yourself what could you realistically apply to?

You now know what type of job you would like, what skills you currently have that provides you with the job you’ll be good at and what is the ideal role for you.  Now, it’s time to look at what jobs would be realistic for you to apply to.

Finding your perfect job can be hard if there are not many opportunities in your current location or if you’re just starting out with big dreams, but that’s why it’s time to take stock of what is out there for you in the location that you want to be in, the salary you require, the contract type and of course, the seniority level you want.

Don’t forget - remote opportunities can be your friend since you won’t need to relocate for them!

So, you can’t find anything in your locations? Relocation can sometimes be offered as part of a job, so it’s always worth checking to see if the company can assist you with joining them.

Making sure to work through the full list can take time, but that’s why we’re here – to help!

When searching for a new job, try to keep the previous questions in mind when you’re using the filter section on site.  Take some time to review your answers and think about what you enjoy doing, type that in, does this appear in the search results? Is there something similar that could work for you? If it does, it’s worth keeping that in mind when you’re ready to apply.

If you don’t find what you like on the first search – why not try something that is more skill based.  What are you good at? Search that, happier with the results?

Regardless off the results that show.  Always ask yourself – is this something that I would enjoy doing?  If you’re happy – you now have your ideal position within the video game industry.

When it comes to location – think about what the ideal situation for you is.  Do you want to live and work in the same city, are you happy to commute and how far? Or would you consider relocation or remote work.

We hope these tips have been useful for you and wish you all the best in job search!
